Hello from Pennsylvania!  Home of J.D. Lohr's Arts and Crafts and Live Edge Free Form Furniture Studio and The Lohr Woodworking School.

Current Work That was Exhibited at the 2012 Long's Park Arts and Crafts Festival

For those unfamiliar with our studio work, below is a quick summary:

I am a furniture maker, woodworker, and teacher with 37 years of professional experience.  Although I created the business over the course of years of hard work and investment, I alone am not the business.  Key to the success of J.D. Lohr Woodworking Inc is my associate Robert Spice who joined me in 2006 as an apprentice and through hard work and practice Rob has become a remarkable and noteworthy woodworker in his own right and is an individual who has made significant contributions to our company's overall stability and growth.   Additionally we also recognize the contributions of  Eoin O'Neill and most recently, Larissa Huff. Please check out Larissa's BLOG to see many of her remarkably entertaining entries.
2006 my focus has been on my own original Arts and Crafts style designs which are influenced by Greene & Greene, Frank Lloyd Wright, C.R. Mackintosh, Josef Hoffmann, Bernard Maybeck, and several Mission, Craftsman, and Bungalow Style designers of the movement.   Although I still accept commissions within my original interpretation of the Arts and Crafts Style, my focus since 2003 has been shifting more and more to creating Free Form Live Edge Furniture form through and through sawn tree slabs.  I do not and will not make reproductions of others work choosing to only do original one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces of my own creation.  You'll find more in-depth background on this in my  Artist's Statement.

In cruising my site, you may be left with the impression that I am some big production outfit but nothing could be further from the truth.  With the assistance of only two apprentices, I personally make everything that bears my name.  The upholstery and leaded glass work are done by two fellow master craftsmen who work directly with me on specific projects.

If you see something you are interested in or if you have any questions, I'm only a phone call away at (610) 287-7802 or you can email me at Jeff@LohrWoodworkingStudio.com   Good luck cruising my site.

Quote of the month:

"If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it."
