Special Student Supplied Lumber Option #2 Details:

As you see in the pictures of our Accessory Table above, the
contrasting wood is one of the most striking features of this piece. All
table bases will be made of walnut, provided by us. Walnut contrasts
beautifully with almost any other species that you present beside it, and will
be the material that all students will use for the base. The Black Cherry
we are providing in our Hassle Free Option #1 where we supply the
table top, shelf and drawer front that we abbreviate to "TSD"
is of excellent quality and will make a striking and wonderful piece of
furniture. We promise good quality Black Cherry for all our students that
go with our recommended hassle free option #1. Our students are extended
the privilege of supplying their own contrasting lumber for this project but
before considering this option in depth, we strongly recommend that you first
read our Student Wood Disclaimer to be
more fully educated about the potential unforeseen reality that selecting this
option may present to you.
OK, having read and absorbed the above you believe you still prefer this Option #2 and have your
heart set on using lumber of a different species or something that is radically
figured for your top, shelf, and drawer front, you will have to familiarize
yourself with the dimensional requirements of your student supplied lumber in
sufficient quantity and thickness to meet the project specifications. We
will list some additional recommended sources for this material further down the
page, for now just do your best to understand the component layout
configurations of the material you will need to supply as per the photo drawing
below if you of the mind to pursue Option # 2 and fully supply your own TSD =
Top, Shelf, Drawer material.

Again, further down the page, we will supply some recommended sources for your
material that you can have drop shipped directly to our shop here in
Schwenksville. Regardless, please understand that the decision to enroll
under this Option # 2 that you are indeed fully obligated to follow through and
supply your TSD Material in a timely way and in the dimensions described.

Figured Lumber Resources.
Be advised, our price of $70 on the FAS Black Cherry for your table top,
shelf and drawer front is a very good one, and you should not be surprised to
pay double that or more on material obtained elsewhere.
Our recommended sources for figured hardwood:
Hearne Hardwoods:
http://www.hearnehardwoods.com
Hearne will have by far and away the largest selection of domestic and exotic
materials for you to choose from. You could either go there in person, or
peruse their inventory over the internet. This would be the best choice
for students who would like to supply their own material and are traveling to
take our course. You can select your material over the internet, and have
them ship it directly to us, where it will be waiting for you upon your arrival.
Hudock's Hardwoods:
http://www.hudockshardwoods.com
If you prefer to do your lumber shopping in the flesh, Hudock's Hardwoods has a
variety of domestic species available at any one time. While his inventory
isn't huge, I generally find some wonderful hidden gems in his racks.
Please call in advance to determine if he has what you are looking for.
In your search, you are confined to buying 5/4 material. The table top
thickness is crucial and cannot fall below our minimum requirement. Any
and all lumber that you buy must be in our shop 14 days before the start date of
your course or earlier. The material must have time to acclimate in our
shop and we must have time to begin the rough milling process before you arrive.
In your lumber shopping, you are looking for two matching boards that are 5/4 in
thickness by 8 1/2" wide (or wider) by 8 feet long. In these two
boards you will have the material for your table top with it's breadboard ends,
the shelf with it's bread board ends, and the drawer front.
If you already have material in your possession that you want to use for the
course, it must meet these requirements.
